Psychology literally means study of the mind. There are many areas of research that psychologists are involved in. For example Social, Brain and Behaviour, Emotion, Attention, Perception, Personality. For example: • How can addictions be explained? • What causes stress and how can it be reduced? • Do the media influence aggressive behaviour? • Are looks or personality important when choosing a partner? • Why do we obey or conform to some people and not others? Psychology combines really well with all subjects, as it is a great basis for all future careers. Most students pair Psychology with English, Sciences or Maths. If you enjoy finding out about key pieces of research and have a critical and inquisitive mind, Psychology is a challenging and exciting subject for you to embark on. Psychology is certainly not a one-size-fits-all career choice.
