Mathematics provides a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself and to further your understanding of mathematical models in the real world. Building on GCSE Higher Mathematics, it will both broaden and deepen your understanding of many fields including science and engineering. To enrol on this course, you will need to have achieved at least a B-grade at GCSE. We also offer Further Mathematics as a second A Level or just as an AS in Further Maths. This involves taking three more modules in the first year and a further three modules in the second year. A minimum of an A grade at GCSE is required to enrol on the Further Maths course. Learning Maths is so valuable because it forms the basis of so many very useful systems and processes essential to business and industry. Many occupational fields also require advanced study of Maths, making the A Level Maths course one of the most versatile you can study. It goes way beyond the basics of addition and subtraction and further into the worlds of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mathematical Modelling and more. Mathematical ability is very highly regarded by both universities and employers. An A Level in Mathematics is essential for many degree courses (such as Physics, Engineering and, of course, Mathematics itself!), and is highly desirable in a wide range of subjects such as chemistry, natural sciences, architecture, computing, accounting etc. There is a national shortage of mathematicians, and employment prospects are good.
