A Level Mathematics

UPDATED 20161024 14:26:53

You study three modules in Year 12 and three modules in Year 13. In Year 12 you study Core 1, Core 2 and Statistics 1. If you then choose to continue study into Year 13 you study Core 3, Core 4 and Decision 1 (maths that is linked to programming). Each of the modules is equally weighted in terms of your final grade. If you can take A level Maths, you should take A Level Maths. Maths is key for developing your analytical, research and problem solving skills. The A level is balanced between core and applied modules that give you a firm foundation in mathematical techniques which allows you to go on to further study or straight into work. Maths is currently the most popular A level nationally, overtaking English in 2014. What could I go on to next? Mathematics A level students and graduates are in high demand by employers. Maths is the common denominator between all science, engineering, technology and maths subjects. Currently 59% of employers state they are having difficulty recruiting people with mathematical skills. In terms of future study, Maths is recommended or sometimes required for: Computer Science, Accounting, Chemistry, Biology and Life Sciences, Medicine / Nursing, Dentistry, Business Studies, Management Studies, Finance, Architecture, Geology, Psychology, Surveying and even Philosophy. In short, if you are capable of taking Maths, you should take A level Maths.
