Further Maths is an additional A Level qualification in Maths which deepens your understanding of mathematics by allowing you to study a wider range of topics. As well as doing your three A Level Modules in Year 12 you study three additional modules over the first year. Further Maths allows you study a wider range of topics in maths, which will help you for further study of mathematics at university. Topics studied include matrices and complex numbers which are particularly useful for programming and engineering related degrees. The course is done through regular online seminars through the Further Maths Support Programme. Students are required to ‘attend’ regular online interactive lectures and complete homework assignments which are emailed to their tutors. This is supervised within the school and we are available to help students. What could I go on to next? Universities look on Further Maths extremely favourably as it is seen as a highly challenging and rigorous qualification. Some prestigious university courses require a Further Maths qualification while others may adjust their grade requirements more favourably for those doing Further Maths.
