AS Level Students investigate the purpose of business and how they are influenced by the environment in which they operate. They then go on to explore how decisions are taken and the importance of various stakeholders. Students then gain an understanding of the four main functional areas of business, i.e. marketing, operations management, finance and human resources. They gain an understanding of how vital each is to the success of business organisations are the ways in which they are interdependent. A Level In the second year of the full A-Level course, students use knowledge gained at AS Level as a foundation upon which to analyse the strategic position of businesses and how they react to various influences, both internally and externally. Students investigate how businesses choose their strategic direction and the methods used to take a business forward, understanding how change is managed and why strategies can fail
