Sociology is the study of society, people and their behaviour. Students are encouraged to look beyond the obvious and to examine the patterns and relationships that shape both our society and the individuals within it. Sociology is a rigorous academic subject that complements a range of other subjects through its development of analytical and evaluative skills. Critical thinking skills learnt in sociology provide excellent preparation for university and for career paths such as law, the police, criminology and journalism.
