The course recognises technology in music as a way of music making in its own right that requires a high-level skills acquisition and application and secure knowledge and understanding. Students will experience working in a studio and learn how to use music production software such as Logic in order to create multi track recordings (recording drums, guitar, bass, vocals etc.) and sequence a pre-existing song. Students will analyse and explore popular music since 1910, focusing on the music itself, the social conditions at the time and the technology used. Post 16 students taking AS/A2 level music technology are expected to attend extra-curricular music activities. There is an opportunity for students to organise and direct music groups within the extra-curricular programme. and will be given opportunities to organise and direct ensembles of their own.
