In the first year students currently complete three modules, each with an associated exam: two pure mathematics modules (Core 1 and 2) covering algebraic, functional and numerical concepts, and a unit covering statistical analysis and probability (Statistics 1). In their second year students complete a further three modules. There are two more pure mathematics modules (Core 3 and 4), that build on ideas developed in Core 1 and 2. Core 3 contains a coursework element weighted at 20% of the final assessment. Students also complete a module on mechanical mathematics (Mechanics 1), introducing forces and motion. Each module is assessed through a terminal exam.
