Certificate in Vehicle Technology (QCF) Course Overview Level 2 Award in Motor Vehicle Studies (Light Vehicle). The automotive industry continues to suffer from a skills gap and needs to keep up with rapidly developing technologies. New entrants to the sector need to build underpinning knowledge and specific skills required to meet the demands of modern vehicle industries. This is a 5 unit course which covers the basics of vehicle structure and maintenance. The units covered are: Health, safety and good housekeeping in the automotive environment. Routine light vehicle maintenance. Removing and replacing light vehicle engine units. Inspecting light vehicles using prescribed methods. This is a one year course for Year 12 students. Assessment Units are internally assessed and portfolios of evidence are externally verified. These units consist of both practical work and written content. On the basis of the marks gained for each unit, an overall grade is awarded for the qualification. Combines with L2 English or Mathematics. Future Pathways The Level 2 award in Motor Vehicle Studies has been designed to provide opportunities for learners who intend to progress into technician roles or further into engineering/vehicle technology education.
