Diploma in Engineering Course Overview Level 3 Cambridge Technical Certificate in Engineering Principles. Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Engineering. Cambridge Technicals are vocational qualifications at Level 3 for students in sixth form. They are designed with the workplace in mind and provide a high quality accompaniment to A Levels. For Engineering, there is considerable scientific and mathematical core content as is required by both employers and higher education institutions. At the same time, the course maintains an applied/technical qualification feel where the maths and science content is clearly focussed on real world engineering problems as well as giving a broader overview of the world of Engineering. The units covered are: Year 12 (Certificate)  Mathematics for Engineering.  Science for Engineering.  Principles of Mechanical Engineering. Year 13 (Extended Certificate)  Principles of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.  Mechanical Design.  Materials Science. Assessment A combination of externally examined units and practical/written content. On the basis of marks gained for each unit, an overall grade of pass, merit or distinction is awarded for the qualification. Combines with Physics, Mathematics. Future Pathways Cambridge Level 3’s are valued by employers and higher education establishments and give an excellent springboard into higher level apprenticeships.
