Drama and Theatre Studies

This specification combines the activities of exploring plays, creating theatre, performing plays (for a group performance piece and monologue for exam performances) and analysing theatre in the form of a detailed, concise review of a live performance. The course will include practical exploration, research and performance connected to different styles, genres and social, cultural and historical contexts. Improvisation, devising and the interpretation of play texts are key aspects of the course as is the ability to critically analyse and evaluate your own performance and live professional theatre. Opportunities to see a variety of live theatre will be given throughout the course, including a theatre trip to London comprising of two performances and a connected workshop.
