BTEC National Extended Diploma in Children's Care, Learming and Development

We work closely with employers, early years organisations, early years specialists and higher education representatives to ensure that you have a wide range of experience in Early Years settings and also have the best preparation for the future. Students spend one day per week on work placements and a two week block placement at the end of each term at a: Nursery, Pre school, Reception/Year1, Year 2 You will study the importance of play to the development of a child's self confidence and social skills. You will develop knowledge and understanding of why Active learning is seen as an appropriate way for children to develop vital skills and knowledge and as a positive attitude to learning. As early years specialists you will learn to encourage active learning which engages and challenges children's thinking using real life and imaginary situations.
