The A Level course follows the Edexcel syllabus. The course aim is to equip the learner with communicating in German – be it written or spoken. Grammar is a key feature together with the study of cultural topics and themes. In year 12 you will study basic grammar and then move to the study of topics including nature and the environment, education, training and work, music, media, festivals and traditions in German-speaking countries. In year 13 you will study the topics of immigration and the German multicultural society as well as the Reunification of Germany. Throughout the A level course you will study two cultural topics in depth – either two German books from a set list or one book and one film. You will also be asked to complete an independent research task between years 12 and 13.
