Diploma in Creative Media Production Course Overview OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Digital Media. This course is suitable for learners who want to gain a Level 3 qualification to support studies in Further Education (FE) or Higher Education (HE) in Digital Media or any other sector/subject area. It is also for those who wish to progress into a media-related apprenticeship. Learners will take 3 mandatory units: Media products and audiences. Pre-production and planning. Create a media product. Additionally, students study between 2 to 4 optional units depending on the size of the units selected. The units will give learners an understanding of how media institutions operate to create products that appeal to specific target audiences. Students will gain knowledge and understanding of the pre-production, planning and production processes and go on to create a media product. Learners will also develop transferrable skills such as planning, communication, adaptability and leadership. The optional units provide learners with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, understanding and skills in key areas such as: social media and globalisation, journalism and the news industry or advertising media. Assessment Units 1, 2 and 6 are assessed by external examination. The other units will be internally assessed and externally moderated. The qualification is graded Pass, Merit, Distinction, Distinction*. Combines with Drama. Future Pathways Higher Education: Journalism, Media Studies, Film Studies, Advertising, Public Relations.
