Students in AS Product Design will produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their skills in designing. This portfolio is split into three sections: Product Analysis, Product Design and Product Manufacture. In the Product Analysis section, they will disassemble and analyse the materials and production processes involved in an existing commercial product. In the Product Design section, they will use their understanding of design techniques to design their own commercial product and model CAD and Styrofoam prototypes. In the Product Manufacture section, they will use advanced practical skills to model a building or product, using a range of materials.
