A Level Biology A Salters-Nuffield (SNAB). Year 12: The course covers the topics of Biological Molecules and Cells, Viruses and Reproduction of Living Things, Classification and Biodiversity and Exchange and Transport. Year 13: The course covers the topics of Energy for Biological Pathways, Microbiology and Pathogens, Origins of Genetic Variation, Control Systems and Ecosystems. Students will be expected to participate in and complete several core practicals during the course. A Level Biology aims to develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to one another. You will become competent in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills as well as scientific method. Both courses will give you an excellent grounding in Biology and will help you to develop skills desirable in many careers and areas of society. Assessment There will be ongoing practical assessment for Practical Competency. Exams include multiple choice, short, and long answer questions, including links to applications and practical work. Combines with Biology works well with: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, PE, Food Technology, Psychology and/or Geography. Future Pathways Possible careers include: Veterinary Science, Medicine, Physiotherapist, Nursing, Environmental Biologist, Ecologist, Geneticist, Microbiologist and Botanist.
