The Applied Science course is a Level 3 course designed to provide specialist work related qualification. This course will provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare them for employment. This National Award provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding for students aspiring to follow careers such as a Science Technician, environmental, medical or forensic scientist and many other such like careers. The course is made up of 30 unit credits for the certificate, 60 unit credits for the subsidiary diploma, 120 unit credits for the diploma and 180 unit credits for the extended diploma, based over a 2 year period. All assessments are made through portfolio work and assignments completed in relation to specific tasks and studies. One unit will be examined externally.
