The A Level comprises two units at AS and two units at A2. Students are introduced to a variety of experiences using a range of media, processes and techniques. Pupils are given lots of choice as to what they make taking into account their strengths. Some pupils choose to make fashion garments; others choose to work on surface design of fabrics, producing a whole host of textiles products. The course is suitable for a diverse range of students who wish to develop their interest in, and enjoyment of creative subjects. The course is constantly being updated with new technologies with projects that are current and will appeal to creative thinking students that want to become innovative designers. The course also lays an appropriate foundation for further study of Art and Design or related subjects in Higher Education. Students will study 4 units, split equally over 2 years, these comprise of two coursework units and two externally set projects from the exam board which part of will be done under exam conditions. The exam will be practical based and is great for students that struggle in exams. Students are given plenty of time to prepare for the exams and are well equipped when they come to take them with confidence.
