The course is divided into topics, each covering different key concepts of chemistry. The teaching of practical skills is integrated with theoretical topics and they are assessed through written papers and a Practical Endorsement. What are the benefits of taking this course? Chemists have greatly improved the quality of life for the majority of people. This A Level course is intended to provide a solid platform for a variety of possible careers. These include careers in health and clinical professions, such as medicine, nursing, biochemistry, dentistry or forensic science. It will also equip you for a career in industry, for example in the petrochemical or pharmaceutical industries. What you may not know about chemists... new molecules are not discovered by pharmacists but by chemists working in a laboratory. Research chemists discover new products and processes. Chemistry uses so many important skills that will be needed in any profession. What could I go on to next? An A Level in chemistry provides an ideal route into a number of careers, as mentioned above. It would also be compatible with all manner of degree courses such as chemical engineering, medicine, forensic sciences and many, many more.
