What will I learn? The Tudors: England, 1485–1603. Exploring and comparing the very different leadership styles, trials and tribulations of the Tudor Monarchs. This course will investigate how the family seized and maintained power in England whilst attempting to expand their influence over Europe. Democracy and Nazism: Germany, 1918–1945. A focus study on one of the most turbulent periods in German history, exploring how the German people lived, prospered and suffered during the first half of the 20th century. This course allows students to build on prior knowledge and further develop their understanding of the complex reasons behind the rise of Nazi party in Germany. How will I be assessed? Two 1 hour 30 minute exams. One 3000-3500 word historical enquiry into a subject of your own choice What are the entry requirements? The standard entry requirements for the 6th form plus a grade B or higher in GCSE English Language. A grade B or higher in GCSE is History is essential. Future opportunities A level History is a well-respected academic qualification which could take you on to study a range of courses at University. You could decide to follow a career in a History-related subject, for example: Teacher, Archivist; Historian. Studying History to A Level and Degree level is also excellent preparation for a career in Journalism, Law and Politics. In fact, the skills you will learn through studying History - empathy, analysing evidence, presentation skills – are excellent preparation for most careers. There is a very high representation of History graduates who lead in the world of Business.
