This course has emphasis on drama and theatre studies as a practical, intellectual and artistic subject. Students will analyse texts, participate in practical performance assessed by an external examiner and write about all of the knowledge gained during the course in controlled coursework conditions. At AS Level, students will explore two contrasting play texts and evaluate a live theatre experience as part of the ‘Exploration of Drama and Theatre’ unit. They will then be required to contribute to a performance of a published play by a known author as well as a performance of a monologue or duologue from a different play in the ‘Theatre Text in Performance’ unit.
