Course Content You will analyse, discuss and write original pieces. You will learn how spoken and written language works, and explore social attitudes to language. The following modules are studied: AS LEVEL Module 1 - Telling Stories (Examination) Remembered Places: representation of place Imagined Worlds: point of view and genre in prose Poetic Voices: the forms and functions of poetic voice Methods of language analysis A2 LEVEL Module 2 - Exploring Conflict (Examination) Writing about Society: the role of the individual in society, and re-creative writing based on set texts Critical commentary: evaluating own writing Dramatic Encounters: conflict in drama Language in the media Methods of language analysis Module 3 - Making Connections (Coursework) An investigation on a chosen theme and text. Lessons will be taught in a seminar style and preparation will have to be done before every lesson.
