Sociology is the study of the development and structure of human society. The study of sociology aims to explore important questions such as what are subcultures and why do they form? Why do women seem more religious than men? What is the role of the police and how do they link with communities? The AS course aims to introduce you to the underlying principles of sociological study and the methods sociologists use to study society. You will also explore the concept of families and how they are influenced by the structures of society, and the role and purpose of education. At A2, you will consolidate the skills you developed at AS, alongside examining beliefs in society such as religion, and the theories, patterns and prevention of crime in society.
