This course caters to young people with autism spectrum conditions. Students develop their communication, functional skills, confidence and independence in college and are supported to transfer this learning to their home environments and to the wider community. Aims for the course are to Promote and develop communication and social interaction skills Develop skills in preparing for and coping with changes and to participate in new experiences and environments Develop and utilise independence skills Develop skills in choice making and promoting the importance of learner voice Enable students to have a presence in an engage with their local community Enable a range of work experience options and meaningful leisure activities Develop self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence
