Studying Sociology will improve your understanding of yourself and your relationship with others in the context of the wider society in which you live. The skills required rely upon understanding and analysing the nature of scientific method; objectivity and the relative values of quantitative and qualitative methods. There are opportunities to develop your understanding of spiritual, moral and cultural issues throughout the course. Candidates will learn to appreciate that society is made up of a rich variety of groups from different social cultural and religious backgrounds. You will be encouraged to reflect upon these within a sociological framework in relation to your own beliefs.
