The BTEC level 3 IT course allows students to develop a more in depth understanding of the practice and theory of IT and Computer Systems as part of a level 3 course. Throughout the course of study candidates are encouraged to become discerning users of ICT, developing a broad range of IT and computing skills as well as knowledge and a practical understanding of both coding and hardware. This should form a basis for progression into further learning, including advancement from year 12 to year 13, and/or employment. The added attraction of this course is it allows students to acquire a wider range of practical IT skills than most, including the opportunity to use a variety of software and write code, as well as to choose a study path that can include subjects as diverse as Event Driven Programming(Unit 14) and Computer Game Design (Unit 22).
