This course offers: Students study three modules: Further pure mathematics 1, plus two units chosen from ,mechanics, Statistics or Decision Mathematics. These units must be different from any counting towards an A Level in Mathematics. Lessons are delivered using Edexcel-endorsed text books which includes a live text CD-ROM containing worked solutions to all the question in the book, as well as an exam cafe feature for the revision period. Boardworks software is also used, many presentation including interactive demonstrations. A typical lesson would include teacher exposition, group discussion and time for students to work individually and collaboratively on problems. Homework/private study will normally be set following each taught lessons, of a similar duration to the lessons. Students will be given exam style questions, which will be assessed to monitor progress. Further mathematics can only be taken alongside A level mathematics and is strongly recommended for any student consideration further academic study of mathematics in particular, but is also valuable for any student planning to follow a career or make further study in the fields of science, engineering financial and other similar areas.
