Geography - A Level

The A level Geography course is a relevant and up-to-date course, developing enquiry skills and enhancing knowledge and understanding of our modern world. Students study both Physical and Human Geography and topics include River and Coastal Environments, Cold and Hot Environments, Urban and Rural Change, the Growth of Tourism and Environmental Issues such as Earth Hazards, Ecosystems Under Threat and Climatic Hazards. Economic Issues such as Population and Resources, Globalisation and Development and Inequalities are also explored. Students also undertake a Geographical investigation based upon a fieldwork exercise which involves visits to several locations including a 4 day residential to the Birks Field Study Centre. Geography provides a sound basis for a wide range of careers including Environmental Management, Travel and Tourism, Planning and Surveying, Meteorology, Cartography, Mining, Health and Education, Armed Forces, Management and Marketing.
