This course studies a great many aspects of Health & Social care in 3 distinct areas: Health, Social services and Early years, (which covers children aged 3-8 years). Unit 1: Developing effective communication in health and social care - enables learners to understand effective communication within health or social care settings, some of the many barriers to effective communication and ways to overcome them. Unit 2 : Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care – enables learners to develop an understanding of concepts related to equality, diversity and rights in health and social care. Learners will be also gain knowledge of discriminatory practice and means of combatting this. Unit 21: Nutrition for health and social care – enables learners to gain an understanding of current thinking on nutritional health particularly relating to users of health and social care services. Unit 3: Health, safety and security in health and social care – learners will gain an understanding of the health, safety and security of individuals in a health and social care context. They will explore legislation, policies and procedures and gain an understanding of the purpose of risk analysis. Unit 5: Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care- enables learners to understand aspects of the anatomy and physiology of human body systems. Unit 4: Development through the Life Stages - This unit aims to enable learners to gain knowledge and understanding of the different stages throughout the human lifespan. Learners will be able to develop an understanding of both the physical and psychological changes of ageing and be able to apply theories of ageing to health and social care provision.
