Geography is the study of the world around us and man’s impact on it. It considers the physical and human influences that shape and style our world including climate change, immigration, extreme climates, earthquakes, regeneration of cities, and conflicts. The A level course involves both human and physical geography units requiring application of scientific logic, principles, methods and laws. Topics covered include rivers, coasts, plate tectonics and ecosystems, providing an understanding of how these complex systems work and interact. The course also deals with issues covering population change, energy, and world cities, and the current issues and thinking regarding these topics. Field studies are designed to enable development and testing of personal hypotheses, and to encourage analytical capabilities in collecting and interpreting data.
