You will study 3 units throughout the A level course plus complete a 3000-4000 word essay on a topic of your choice. We focus on a range of historical periods from Alfred and the Making of England 871–1016, International Relations 1890–1941 and Russia and Its Rulers 1855-1964. Alfred and the Making of England 871–1016 investigates the Viking raids on England and the eventual creation of the Danelaw and how the Anglo-Saxon monarchs dealt with the situation. International Relations 1890–1941 offers an understanding of the causes and events leading up to the two World Wars which shaped the 20th Century. Russia and Its Rulers investigates Russia over a 100 year period as the power went from Tsars to Communists and adopted a radically different political system.
