What will I learn? This is a practical and theoretical course which enables students to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in sport. Theoretical elements are more or less prevalent depending on the unit being studied. In Year 12: Students complete the following 4 units: • Anatomy and Physiology • Physiology of Fitness • Assessing Risk in Sport • Fitness Testing for Sport In Year 13: Students complete the following units: • Fitness Training and Programmes • Practical Team Sports • Leadership in Sport How will I be assessed? Students are assessed through observations, video analysis, written reports, presentations, interviews, work placements, enrichment, practical performance and the use of a number of iPad apps. What are the entry requirements? Must meet the standard BTEC entry requirements for the 6th form plus: • A BTEC Level 2 qualification in Sport/Uniformed Services (Merit) Future opportunities The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Sport is a key contributor to students UCAS points (along with any other AS/A2 or L3 BTEC’s studied) for various courses at university. In addition to the knowledge gained through the course, students will also learn valuable skills such as delivery of presentations, performance analysis and regularly meeting deadlines. These skills are important for a variety of potential employers.
