Advanced Level Further Mathematics is a modular course, comprising 6 units taken for the AS and A2 qualification combined. Students are required to study and take examinations in six units overall as follows: Further Pure 1 Series; complex numbers; numerical solution of equations; coordinate systems, matrix algebra, proof. Further Pure 2 Inequalities; series, first order differential equations; second order differential equations; further complex numbers, Maclaurin and Taylor series. Further Pure 3 Further matrix algebra; vectors, hyperbolic functions; differentiation; integration, further coordinate systems. Any other three optional units may be taken from Statistics, Mechanics and/or Decision Mathematics. Students may not take any of the Core Mathematics units for this award.

Examinations taken as part of the AS Further Mathematics qualification are combined with those taken for A2 Further Mathematics to provide the overall advanced level grade. All examination papers are one and half hours in length. All examination papers have 75 marks. All examination papers are 33.3% of the AS award and 16.67% of the overall advanced level.
