The English Speaking Board (ESB) awards are designed to enable you to achieve a recognised qualification in developing your communication skills. You will focus on becoming a more confident communicator. You will do this by learning how to give a presentation to a small group, learning how to answer a telephone call and learning how to talk in a group discussion. You will develop listening and responding skills such as making good eye contact with a person who is talking to you and responding to simple questions. The award will be delivered at your own pace and offer opportunities to work in groups with peers, on a one to one basis with tutors and support workers. This qualification would run alongside your own non-accredited individualised programme, supporting you to achieve your personal learning outcomes. Your tutor will ensure that you have developed and demonstrated the required skills in order to successfully achieve the qualification. When you are ready you will be formally assessed by an external ESB examiner. During the ESB assessment you will work in a group to demonstrate listening and responding skills as well as competence as an individual speaker.
