Students follow the OCR Geography syllabus which involves 2 units 1. Managing Physical Environments This unit looks at the coastal, glacial and river environments and the issues relating to the management of these environments. The topics are studied at a variety of scales from the local to the global. An 11/2 hour examination when 3 questions must be answered from 4. 2. Managing Change in Human Environments This unit looks at the urban and rural environments and the issues raised within each. Tourism is also considered as major topics within this unit. The topics are studied at a variety of scales from the local to the global. An 11/2 hour examination when 3 questions must be answered from 4. Each unit is worth 50% of the final exam mark. 3 Global Issues This unit looks at Earth Hazards, Climate Hazards and Globalisation. The topics are studied at a variety of scales from the local to the global. A 21/2 hour examination is taken when 5 questions must be answered this paper is worth 60% of the final exam mark. 4. Geographical Skills This unit looks at Geographical Investigations and Research and is a more synoptic type paper. A 11/2 hour examination when 3 questions must be answered this paper is worth 40% of the final exam mark
