English Language (AS)

UPDATED 20150925 12:25:18

Have you ever thought about how we use language on a daily basis and how language varies from person to person? Are you interested in the development of the English language? If so, this AS/A Level programme will give you a fascinating insight into the language we tend to take for granted. The range of topics for study include: language frameworks, original creative writing, child language acquisition, language change from the middle ages to present day. Students will study texts from a range of sources, periods and contexts. In each year students are assessed by an external examination and by two pieces of original writing coursework in Year 12, and by an independently-focused Language Investigation in Y13.
