BTEC HNC Diploma in Creative Media Production (QCF)

This highly practical course is aimed at those interested in filmmaking. The course encourages experimentation, creative development and technical skills. It includes all aspects of digital film making as well as an emphasis on the use of sound, lighting and editing. As part of the course students will be provided with their own classroom including I-Mac with industry standard software, such as Adobe Premier Pro. Students will also have access to a variety of industry standard hardware, such as Canon 5D Mark 2 SLR cameras, a variety of lenses, Go-Pro cameras, portable lighting equipment, microphones, tripods and gliders. The goal of the course is to increase our student's confidence, team work and independent learning skills to better prepare learners for higher education and employment within the creative industries. The course will also help develop a student portfolio, which can be shown to potential employers or other higher educational providers. The HNC comprises of 8 units, the majority of which are practical. Units: Contextual Studies Media Industries Research Techniques Media Project Production Management Promotional Video Production Video Editing Film Studies Film and Television Documentary Camera and Lighting Workshop King Edward VI College's level 4 provision integrates as much collaborative working as possible. This includes working in teams, working with Art Foundation students and working and collaborating with real life clients. We view industry engagement as a vital part of teaching and learning.
