The A-Level Computer Science course is not about simply learning to use software packages or training in a programming language. Instead the emphasis is on computational thinking, a method of reasoning used by both humans and machines. This course has an emphasis on; abstract thinking, problem-solving, engineering solutions, algorithmic and mathematical reasoning. Students will have the opportunity to develop their programming skills in a range of languages including; Python, C#, HTML & JavaScript, SQL. Students will also study the theoretical side of computer science which will cover; object-oriented programming, hardware & networking, data representation, systems life cycle development, big data, and many other interesting areas.
