Sociology

UPDATED 20150930 13:41:38

Sociology is the study of society, the institutions and our place as individuals within it. Sociology provides a good understanding of the nature of inequalities in society, how our identities are shaped by the culture, institutions and society we live in, and how power influences the structure of contemporary UK society. Sociology particularly complements other subject areas such as the humanities, social sciences and the arts.
