In the first year of the course, students develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the political system of the UK, including local government and the institutions of the EU. Students are encouraged to develop their capacity for critical thinking, and to develop an understanding of the relationships between different aspects of government and politics. Students will also engage in comparative study of other political systems. During the second year of the course, students study political ideologies, theories and traditions and critically analyse the application of political ideas and concepts to political systems.
