The Functional Skills English qualification is delivered across different levels of ability. The qualification is recognised by industry and most Universities as being an equivalent level to GCSEs. Functional English is about knowing how to use English in real life situations. The course contains 5 levels starting from Entry 1, progressing through Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and finally Level 2. Applicants will undertake an initial assessment to determine which level would be most suitable for them to start at. The course covers the standards for adult literacy core curriculum. Certificates in Adult Literacy give people the essentials of literacy, so they have the resources to function effectively in their life and work. They cover three main areas: Listening; Speaking; Reading; Writing.
