The Level 2 Certificate in Children's Play and Development is for anyone with aspirations to work within the Childcare Sector. This course is designed to prepare you and provide knowledge and understanding of the role you will play when working with various age groups in a setting. You will study important areas related to caring for children, such as, patterns of child development and the principles of early years practice, health and safety and promoting children's positive behaviour. You will cover a range of core subjects and personal development subjects including: Patterns of Child Development, Promoting Children's Development Through Play, The Principles of Early Years Practice, Promoting Children's Positive Behaviour, Health and Safety in Early Years, Supporting Children's Language and Literacy Development, Making Healthy Food Choice for Children. Also nursery, pre-school teachers and other professional speakers will be incorporated throughout the course. As part of the course you will participate in the Enterprise project that links to work experience. During the course you will plan and fundraise for course trips. This planning will take place during tutor session and will be decided as a group and organised by the tutor. The department will support with trips, however a small charge may be required. As a Boston College learner you will have access to new library facilities and IT equipment. A variety of food and drinks from the College coffee shop, bistro and canteen. The College provides free parking to learners during term time. Recreational activities are also available.
