There are two papers in A-level Computer Science, as well as non-exam assessment (NEA) component. In paper 1, a practical exam, you will be assessed in all the work you have covered in the past two years in programming, data structures and computation. The examination is 2 hours and 30 minutes long, contributing 40% of the total A-level mark. In paper 2, a traditional exam, you are tested on the remainder of the course you have covered over the past two years. Assessment is a 2 hour 30 minute written exam, contributing 40% of the total A-level mark. In the non-exam assessment component you will be required to produce a practical project that meets the needs of a particular end user or investigate how a particular aspect of how computers can be used to explore solutions to problems.
