For the AS you will cover the following units. Unit 1 – The Leisure Industry. For this unit you will investigate the range, scale and importance of the leisure industry to both the UK and Europe. Unit 2 – Working Practices in Leisure. This examined unit will cover health and safety issues as well as quality systems which focus on customer satisfaction. Unit 3 – The Leisure Customer. This unit considers how the leisure industry attracts customers and meets their needs. For the A2 you will be encouraged to develop a greater understanding of the industry and the connections between its different parts. Unit 4. Leisure in Action. You will work in a team to plan, carry out and evaluate a leisure event. Unit 5. Employment in Leisure. You will investigate employment opportunities within the leisure industry. Unit 6. Current Issues in Leisure. This unit will allow you to develop your own interest in leisure through the identification of an issue to be the focus of a research project. This course is ideal for students who prefer coursework assessment, which makes up 2/3 of the course. The overall AS/A level grade is awarded based on the total marks for the examined unit and 2 coursework units each year.
