A Level Physical Education

UPDATED 20150923 10:59:22

A successful student must have a passion for sport and be motivated to understanding the theoretical as well as the practical elements of Sport, with a firm understanding the scientific nature of the subject. Additionally, it is essential that students are practising two sports disciplines to a high standard, representing clubs locally, nationally and/or internationally. Having the ability to self-reflect is essential. The A level course develops the biological, historical and socio-cultural theories within sport, and applies this knowledge to personal experience and case studies. This course will require students to perform both theoretically and practically. We will expect you to fully participate in any practical sessions that are needed for assessment purposes or as part of your academic lessons, in addition to any academy and external sports commitments you may have. We set high standards in terms of behaviour and attitude, and learners should not see this subject as an ‘easy’ option. A level PE is a good prerequisite to study Sport at University level, e.g. Sport Studies or Sport Science, with an option of specialising in areas like Sports Psychology, depending in individual preferences.
