A-Level Physics follows the new AQA Specification. In Year 12 they study the following topics • Particle Physics • Quantum Physics • Waves and Optics • Newtonian Mechanics • Materials • Work and Energy • Electricity and Circuits And, in Year 13, they study the following • Further Newtonian Mechanics • Thermal Physics • Electric and Magnetic Fields • Gravitational Fields • Astrophysics • Nuclear Physics • Medical Physics Students also conduct core practicals throughout the two years.

Paper 2 - Units 6.2 (Thermal Physics) 7 and 8 34% of qualification - 2 hour externally assessed written examination 60 marks of short and long answer questions and 25 multiple choice questions on content. Paper 3 - Section A: Compulsory section: Practical skills and data analysis Section B: Students enter for one of sections 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13 32% of the qualification - 2 hour externally assessed written examination 45 marks of short and long answer questions on practical experiments and data analysis. 35 marks of short and long answer questions on optional topic.
