This is a synoptic course designed to identify global and local issues and how they affect the environment and people around us. Issues such as global warming, coastal erosion and management, rural issues, migration and natural hazards will all be covered. The aim is for students to take away a knowledgeable understanding of some of the issues facing us today and in the future. Along with this there is great emphasis on interpreting data, maps, charts and images as well as being able to discuss and justify individual ideas on these topics. By the end of the course students will be able to take these skills and use them effectively in the workplace or in further education.
