The AS qualification consists of two units: Unit 1: Music Technology Portfolio 1 - This consists of three pieces of coursework, which are submitted on an audio CD. a) A MIDI sequence of a piece of music that is set by EDEXCEL. b) A multi-track audio recording that must include 8-12 live instrumental or vocal tracks. c) A MIDI arrangement/remix of a piece of pop/rock music, chosen from two predefined briefs. Unit 2: Listening and Analysing - A 1 hour 45 minutes written paper that will examine two areas. a) In this part of the AS course you will be required to demonstrate your ability to listen to and write about unfamiliar music. b) The second part will involve questions that are based on two special focus styles.
