In the AS course (Year 12) the following topics are studied: Education with methods: In this unit we study the institution of Education and how it shapes the lives of young people in the UK. We explore how education does this through sociological studies and methods. In Families and Households and we study issues such as changing family types, changing gender roles in the family, divorce rates, family problems and the role of the State in family life. We also look at the way the family socialises new members of society.
