A LEVEL CHEMISTRY

UPDATED 20150921 15:44:26

We have started the new specification in line with the changes to A Level requirements. The AS content is similar to the legacy courses: formulae, moles, equations, bonding and structure, redox, inorganic chemistry and the periodic table, organic chemistry, analytical techniques, energetics, kinetics and equilibrium and organic chemistry. The Assessment will be in two examinations at the end of the AS year. Practical work will be kept in a folder and consist of several core practicals, the content of which will be examined in the exam papers. Practical skills will be assessed for competency and certificated separately, as we understand. The new A Level specification is expected to follow a similar pattern, with the AS content extended and developed. Outcomes at AS will not count towards the A Level grade at the end of Year 13.
